Alt-Country artist Pip Marsh drops debut single ‘Happy?’

UK-based Alt-Country artist Pip Marsh has released his debut single ‘Happy?'.

Available to stream now, the track was premiered on BBC Radio 1. ‘Happy?' showcases Marsh's Emo and Country blend, establishing his sound as something a little different than what's in the mainstream Country charts right now. Take a listen below:

“‘Happy?’ was co-written with my good friend Jack Wilson,” Marsh explains. “We wrote the song after a discussion about our own personal romantic relationships and plans for the future. It’s a song that everyone who has that special someone can relate to, whether someone is starting a fresh romantic relationship or is already in one. It’s about the journey that we are expected to take — about growing together and doing all the things people would expect, like getting approval from others, buying a house, getting married, having a child, etc. And regardless of what route we take and if we follow the typical journey expected of us, are we really and truly happy in the end?”

Marsh's sound is deeply inspired by Emo heavyweights like Secondhand Serenade and Dashboard Confessional, while also drawing from the darker tones of contemporary Country artists such as Jelly Roll, Hardy, and Redferrin. He marries the emotional intensity of Emo with the raw storytelling and melodic authenticity of Country.

Marsh recently performed live for his fans for the first time at his debut show at Y'Allternative Scala in London.
