Russell Dickerson has revealed details about his upcoming fourth studio album ‘Famous Back Home,' set for release on August 22 via Triple Tigers. The 12-track album reflects a bold artistic evolution for the multi-platinum singer-songwriter, who co-wrote 10 of the songs and, for the first time in his career, recorded two outside cuts. Produced alongside longtime collaborator Josh Kerr, as well as Casey Brown and Chris LaCorte on select tracks, the project blends Dickerson’s genre-bending sound with deeply personal storytelling.
“Growing up in a small town, I had this idea ‘I’m going to make it out of here. I’m going to make it big. Everybody is going to know my name,’” Dickerson shared. “But then you have a family and it’s like, ‘Actually, all I want to do is be famous at home.’ The further down this road I get, the more I realize the only thing that matters is my family.”
‘Famous Back Home' spans a wide emotional range, from high-energy anthems to heartfelt ballads. Tracks like ‘Dust,' a nod to David Lee Murphy’s classic ‘Dust on the Bottle,' and ‘Heard It In A Country Song' channel ’90s country nostalgia with a modern twist, while songs like ‘Worth Your Wild' and ‘Sunrise in My Silverado' fuse retro pop vibes with laid-back charm. Vince Gill lends his vocals to ‘Never Leave,' a sparse, emotional plea for redemption, while ‘Sippin On Top of the World' serves up a soaring, stadium-ready moment.
The album also digs deeper into love and vulnerability. ‘For A Truck' and ‘Love That I Love You' reflect on the complexities of relationships, while '16 Me' looks back on growing up with a reflective tone. The already released ‘Bones' celebrates unconditional love and has landed in the Top 40, and ‘Happen To Me' marked the biggest streaming debut of Dickerson’s career. The title track ‘Famous Back Home' brings the record full circle, offering a personal anthem about family and finding true fulfilment outside the spotlight.
“I’m so pumped on this one. It’s just song by song,” Dickerson said. “To go from ‘Yours’ to where we are now, it’s opened up a whole new facet of me and my personality. What you get on stage is so connected to these songs—it finally caught up to my personality, who I am.”
‘Famous Back Home' is now available for pre-order.
