Graham Barham flips a pop classic into a club-ready Country anthem with new ‘Breakup (Down)’

Club-country trailblazer Graham Barham is back with a bold new release, ‘BREAKUP (DOWN),' a high-energy heartbreak anthem that reimagines a familiar pop classic for a new generation of country fans. The track cleverly interpolates ‘Down,' the 2009 smash hit by Jay Sean, marking the first time the Diamond-certified track has been reworked in this way. The result is a pulsing, genre-blurring sound that feels equally at home on the dance floor as it does in a honky-tonk bar.

For Barham, the song is deeply personal. He recalls ‘Down' as a defining part of his youth, soundtracking everything from middle school dances to late nights with friends. Reworking it into ‘BREAKUP (DOWN)' offered a chance to revisit those memories while flipping the narrative into something entirely his own. Driven by his signature vocal grit and sharp, modern storytelling, the track captures the emotional fallout of heartbreak but delivers it with a high-octane, party-ready edge.

The release is accompanied by a striking, neon-soaked music video that leans fully into Barham’s larger-than-life aesthetic. Featuring a cameo from Johnny Manziel—complete with cowboy hat—the visual pairs country swagger with club culture, as Barham himself appears in grillz and a leopard-print coat. It’s a bold statement of intent from an artist who continues to push boundaries and carve out his own lane in the evolving country landscape.

Barham’s momentum shows no signs of slowing. He recently celebrated his second Gold-certified single with “OIL MONEY” and scored his first No. 1 as a songwriter with Stay Country or Die Tryin', recorded by Blake Shelton. Named as part of the Grand Ole Opry NextStage class of emerging artists, he’s also set to perform at the ACM Next Wave showcase in Las Vegas ahead of the annual awards. With upcoming appearances at major events including CMA Fest and Tortuga, alongside dates on his headlining Whiskey Rain Tour, Barham is firmly establishing himself as one of country music’s most exciting and unpredictable rising voices.
