Charley Crockett brings his Sagebrush Trilogy to a cinematic close with new album ‘Age Of The Ram’

Multi GRAMMY-nominated country trailblazer Charley Crockett is set to open another ambitious chapter on April 3, 2026 with the release of ‘Age Of The Ram,' a sweeping 20-track collection that completes his Sagebrush Trilogy and continues a remarkably prolific creative run. The album also marks his third collaboration in a year with co-producer Shooter Jennings, cementing a partnership that has helped shape a cinematic, roots-rich sound blending traditional country textures with expansive storytelling. The project follows the earlier trilogy instalments ‘Lonesome Drifter' and ‘Dollar A Day,' the latter earning a GRAMMY nomination and widespread critical acclaim.

The new album functions as the final act of a three-part narrative arc centred on an outlaw figure evolving from drifter to rustler to legend. Crockett describes Age Of The Ram as the story of cattle rustler Billy McLane, pursued by bounty hunters tied to a shadowy syndicate before vanishing into myth amid the Crazy Mountains. Musically, the record nods to classic country influences such as Willie Nelson, Gram Parsons and Waylon Jennings while still embracing Crockett’s distinctive fusion of pedal steel twang, piano flourishes, atmospheric keys and richly textured arrangements. Recent preview single Kentucky Too Long hints at the album’s reflective tone, pairing sharp social observation with understated acoustic instrumentation and a slow-burning melodic pull.

Crockett’s songwriting remains rooted in portraits of outsiders, drifters and flawed heroes, delivered with a novelist’s eye for detail and a screenwriter’s instinct for dialogue. The album’s scale, both sonically and narratively, reinforces his reputation as one of modern country’s most distinctive voices, balancing traditionalism with adventurous storytelling while maintaining a relentless touring and recording pace.
