The commission follows hot on the heels of series two of I Kissed A Boy, which is currently airing on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer and is produced by Twofour. Returning to host, and to make sure the girls make connections and find their match is pop icon and LGBTQ+ ally Dannii Minogue.
Dannii comments: “'I Kissed a Girl' was full of heart and groundbreaking for female representation on TV. The fans loved the fun, the passion and the drama. I can't wait for the return of the girls – let’s see what the heat of the Italian sun does for kisses and connections. It is sure to get sparks flying. I am ready to be cupid once again – get ready for the Masseria Mania!”
‘I Kissed a Girl' is the first UK dating series for queer girls with the ‘I Kissed' brand paving the way for LGBTQ+ representation on mainstream television. ‘I Kissed a Girl' won Best Media Moment at the DIVA awards and was nominated for a raft of gongs including Outstanding Reality Competition Programme at the GLAAD awards and Best Multichannel Programme at the Broadcast Awards.
The last series of ‘I Kissed a Girl launched' to critical acclaim. The series made iNews's list of the best TV shows of 2024. It was also one of the most talked about shows on BBC platforms with over 20 million global views for series highlights, it won Silver for Best Social Media Organic Campaign at the GEMA Awards and over 50% of the audience on TikTok was 18-34 year olds, making the series a cultural touchstone for BBC iPlayer and BBC Three accounts. Back for another 10-part series, 10 single girls are matched up, and meet for the first time…with a kiss. No chat. No messages. Just one kiss to test their chemistry straight away. Will their kiss be sweet and pure? Passionate and wild? And ultimately, will that first kiss lead to love? Dannii Minogue will throw open the doors to a beautiful location perfect for the ultimate summer of love.
Before they arrive, the girls are matched up based on what they're looking for in a partner. After meeting their match for the first time with a kiss, they're encouraged to give their new relationship a good shot. However, the girls must ultimately do what's right for them, because everyone is a possibility in this love game.
Also back is the brilliantly witty, and hilariously funny Charley Marlowe who will narrate the highs, the lows and all the steam in between.
Charley Comments; “I am beyond excited for the return of I Kissed a Girl and I can't wait to get back in that voice booth and narrate the masseria magic. The girls are returning to Italy to find love! And mumma Minogue back as cupid… What's not to love?”
‘I Kissed A Girl' will serve drama, smash stereotypes, and promise more twists and turns than ever.
Dan Gray, Executive Producer at Twofour comments; “We are very proud and grateful to grow the wonderful world of ‘I Kissed…' The latest cast of boys have lit up our screens and we're extremely excited for the return of ‘I Kissed a Girl' – no doubt, their rollercoaster of romance will be a thrilling watch”
Fiona Campbell, Controller for Youth Audiences, BBC Three and BBC iPlayer says: “'I Kissed A Girl' will follow our brilliant second series of ‘I Kissed A Boy', which has shone a light on what it’s really like on the LGBTQ+ dating scene across the UK. The boys opened up and let the audiences in to some really vulnerable parts of themselves which made audiences fall in love with them. The girls brought their A game for the first series of ‘I Kissed A Girl', creating a social buzz and stand out moments so to bring it back for another series means audiences can expect even more iconic, memorable moments and one hot Summer!”
