Walter Presents is bringing six-part Swedish thriller ‘Hostage' to C4 Streaming starting with a double bill in August.
‘Hostage' offers a complex perspective on a multi-culural Europe trapped in the long shadow of the ‘war on terror'. It stars Liv Mjönes, Jonas Karlsson and Ana Gil De Melo Nascimento, and is directed by Karen Fahlén, based on the novel by Kristina Ohlsson.
Fredrika Bergman (Liv Mjönes) is a civil servant at the Swedish Department Of Justice, awaiting a promotion whilst reviewing the case of Professor Said Kehlifi (Tsahi Halevi) – a Syrian academic arrested in obscure circumstances by Swedish Intelligence agency SÄPO (Swedish Security Services).

When a plane is hijacked, the hijackers first demand is the release of the detained professor Kehlifi. Fredrika is brought in by SAPO's Eden Lundell (Ana Gil de Melo Nascimento) to help with the investigation of the hijacking, whose co-pilot Erik turns out to be the son of her former boss, the legendary police investigator Alex Recht (Jonas Karlsson).
Eden and Fredrika immediately clash, and Fredrika becomes increasingly convinced that Eden may be more interested in hiding the truth than finding it. With the plane heading for disaster, Fredrika partners with investigative journalist Andreas Ekman (David Fukamachi Regnfors), finding that Kehlifi and Eden may be connected by the mysterious Operation Tennyson. But is Fredrika's hatred of Eden blinding her, and will she get to the truth before the plane meets its fate?
Walter Presents: ‘Hostage' will launch with a double bill on C4 Streaming starting 16th August 2024 with weekly episode releases following.
