Ashley Gorley inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame celebrating 83 No. 1 Hits

Ashley Gorley, one of the most accomplished songwriters in modern music history, was officially inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on June 12. With an unmatched 83 No. 1 radio singles to his name, Gorley joined a prestigious class that included The Doobie Brothers, George Clinton, Mike Love of The Beach Boys, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, and Tony Macaulay.

The ceremony featured a heartfelt introduction and performance by Dan + Shay, who have co-written several of their chart-topping hits, including ‘Nothin’ Like You' and ‘Save Me The Trouble,' with Gorley. In an emotional moment, Gorley's daughter Sadie took the stage to welcome her father, adding a personal and touching element to the evening.

During his speech, Gorley reflected on the honour, saying, “As much as part of me is still in shock, I look around this room, and I know I belong… I see family.” The celebrated songwriter has continued to shape the country music landscape with his prolific output. Recently named ASCAP’s 2024 Country Songwriter of the Year for the 11th time, Gorley also earned recognition for co-writing Morgan Wallen’s massive hit ‘Last Night,' which was named ASCAP’s 2024 Country Song of the Year.

His influence extends beyond the charts, as he recently launched a mental health initiative for songwriters in partnership with Onsite in Nashville, inspired by the impact of Jelly Roll’s ‘I Am Not Okay.' Gorley also leads his publishing and artist development company, Tape Room Music, whose roster has produced numerous major hits, solidifying his legacy not only as a prolific writer but also as a mentor to the next generation of hitmakers.
