Amy Dowden MBE will not be returning to ‘Strictly Come Dancing' 2024 it has been announced tonight on companion show ‘It Takes Two'.
Dowden returned to the series this year after taking a break following her cancer diagnosis in 2023. After receiving the all-clear, the professional dancer returned to the ‘Strictly' ballroom this year and was partnered with JLS star JB Gill.
On 26th October 2024, Dowden collapsed backstage after performing on the show and was taken to hospital. A statement was released shortly after confirming that she was recovering and doing well, and last weekend's show saw Lauren Oakley step in for her.
Viewers saw Dowden cheering them on and she appeared emotional on screen as JB and Lauren picked up three 10s from the judges.
A ‘Strictly Come Dancing' spokesperson said: “Sadly, Amy Dowden MBE will not be partaking in the rest of the competition this year. Whilst Amy focuses on her recovery following a foot injury, fellow Professional Dancer, Lauren Oakley, will step in as JB’s dance partner. The health and wellbeing of everyone involved in ‘Strictly' are always the utmost priority. The whole ‘Strictly' family sends Amy love and well wishes.”
‘Strictly Come Dancing' 2024 continues Saturday night at 6.35pm on BBC One.
