Mae Estes addresses heartbreaking truths in new single ‘Good Ol’ Boys’

Rising artist Mae Estes tackles a sensitive and often overlooked issue with her powerful new single ‘Good Ol' Boys,' released now via Big Machine Records. With this compelling track, Estes addresses the wolves in sheep’s clothing, joining the ranks of songs like Kira Isabella’s ‘Quarterback' and Martina McBride’s ‘Independence Day' that shine a light on issues often kept behind closed doors.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Good Ol' Boys,' Estes says, “There is all kinds of heartbreak in life and Country music, but nothing hits harder than the heartbreak that comes from someone you never expected to hurt you. I was raised in a small town in the south, surrounded by honest, hardworking, godly, well-mannered men that we lovingly called ‘good ol’ boys.’ This important song shares the perspective of a heartbroken woman, forever changed by the betrayal of a man she thought she could trust. “I have such respect and admiration for the ‘three chords and the truth’ sentiment of traditional Country music and tried my best to channel that when writing this unapologetic story,” Estes adds.

Written by Estes alongside Marti Dodson, SJ McDonald, and Autumn McEntire, ‘Good Ol' Boys' is more than just a song—it’s a call for healing, empowerment, and awareness. Known for moving audiences to tears during live performances, the ballad serves as a reminder that truth can—and should—be brought into the light. Estes’ hauntingly beautiful vocals and storytelling cement her status as an artist ready to make a stand. Fans can also look forward to the music video premiere on CMT on September 17.

The release of ‘Good Ol' Boys' follows Estes' recent singles, including the AIMP 2024 Rising Songwriter-Artist of the Year winner's tracks ‘High And Lonesome,' ‘Gettin’ Back Up To Heaven' and the fast-paced ‘What I Shoulda Done.' Each of these songs highlights Estes' dedication to traditional Country music and showcases her remarkable songwriting skills.

Estes will also be taking part in Americana Fest and will be hitting the road on select dates with Kimberly Perry. She is set to open for Lainey Wilson at this year’s NFR and was recently announced as part of the Stagecoach 2025 lineup.
