Rising country singer/songwriter Noah Hicks takes a poignant step away from his signature small-town anthems with the release of his introspective new track ‘Second Time Around,‘ featuring Shaylen. The duet, out today via Nashville Harbor Records & Entertainment, explores the lingering regrets and hopeful what-ifs of a former couple contemplating whether they could make things work if given another chance.
In ‘Second Time Around,' Hicks and Shaylen trade verses that delve into the pitfalls that led to their relationship's end, while also expressing a deep-seated hope that things could be different the second time around. Hicks' distinctive, raspy vocals pair seamlessly with Shaylen's powerhouse voice, creating a stirring contrast that captures the emotional weight of the song.
“I’ve been excited about ‘Second Time Around’ for a long time! It shows a bit of a different side of me,” Hicks shared. “It’s even more awesome that Shaylen jumped on it with me. She literally has the perfect voice for this song, and she absolutely crushed it. Someone said it sounds even better the second time around…”
Written by Hicks along with Zach Abend, Jessi Alexander, and Jeremy Stover, the track strikes a delicate balance between the pain of past mistakes and the optimism for a possible future together. Shaylen echoed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, saying, “The second I heard this song and Noah’s voice I was all in. Fans can catch both Noah Hicks and Shaylen live at a free multi-artist concert in downtown Nashville on September 13 as part of the FREEDOM FRIDAY events kicking off the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix weekend (September 13-15). The duo will also perform at the Grand Prix on September 14 at Nashville Superspeedway.
