Wine On Venus: Capturing Live Energy
Produced by John Osborne of Brothers Osborne, Wine On Venus showcases the electric energy of Bowers' live performances. The album features nine tracks, including a reimagined version of Sly and the Family Stone’s “Dance to the Music” and the acclaimed single “Tell Me Why U Do That,” which Forbes describes as “an infectious, joyous party.” The Bluegrass Situation praises her as “an exceptional breakout talent,” while RIFF Magazine calls her “the next generation’s star of American rock, blues, and funk guitar.”
Grace Bowers on Her Debut Album
“I’m thrilled to share my first album with the world!” Bowers exclaims. “Creating this with The Hodge Podge and John Osborne was an incredible experience. We recorded everything live, capturing the raw energy of our performances. I hope listeners love it as much as I do.”
Reflecting on the title track, Bowers shares, “My nana, who passed away last year at 100, always said she’d be drinking wine on Venus when she died. This song is a tribute to her eccentric spirit.”
Notable Collaborations and Contributions
The album features Grace Bowers on guitar, with contributions from Joshua Blaylock (keys), Brandon Combs (drums), Eric Fortaleza (bass), Esther Okai-Tetteh (vocals), and Prince Parker (guitar). Collaborating songwriters include Ben Chapman, Meg McRee, Maggie Rose, and Lucie Silvas.
Rising Star from the Bay Area
Originally from the Bay Area and now based in Nashville, Bowers gained attention during the pandemic by sharing her guitar skills on social media. Her rise to fame includes performances on “CBS Mornings,” a duet with Dolly Parton, and appearances at major events like the Newport Folk Festival, where Rolling Stone lauded her as “a star in the making.” The Tennessean describes her as “a 17-year-old blues guitar prodigy” with a “heart as big as her talent.”
Recent Highlights
This summer, Bowers joined Billy Idol at the Fired Up For Summer benefit concert and raised $30,000 for MusiCares® and Voices for a Safer Tennessee during her 2nd Annual “Grace Bowers & Friends” benefit show.
