The Red Clay Strays tackle self doubt on new song ‘Devil in My Ear’

The Red Clay Strays have just released their latest song, “Devil In My Ear,” written by guitarist Drew Nix. This poignant track delves into the profound effects of depression, anxiety, and self-doubt. You can read our recent interview with the band right here.

Reflecting on the song, Nix shared, “‘Devil in My Ear' came to me during a time when I was trying to understand why someone dear to me, with immense talent, a loving family, and good friends, would take their own life. This song is dedicated to those who have had these thoughts and moments of feeling their life isn’t worth living. Please stick around. Somebody loves you. Those thoughts are lies, and things will get better. God bless.”

‘Devil In My Ear' is the second song unveiled from The Red Clay Strays’ highly anticipated new album, ‘Made By These Moments' set for release on July 26th through RCA Records. You can pre-order or pre-save the album here.

Produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell) and recorded at Cobb’s Georgia Mae studio in Savannah ‘Made By These Moments' showcases the band’s signature genre-blending sound, combining electric rock and roll with southern soul. The album's eleven tracks explore fundamental elements of the human condition, reflecting on faith, love, and redemption.

Lead singer Brandon Coleman shared his thoughts on the project: “Made By These Moments shines a light on overcoming the battles we face in life like loneliness, depression, and hopelessness. We hope you listen and recognize that our pain has a purpose.”

The Red Clay Strays, one of music’s fastest rising bands, includes Brandon Coleman (lead vocals, guitar), Drew Nix (electric guitar, vocals, harmonica), Zach Rishel (electric guitar), Andrew Bishop (bass), and John Hall (drums). Formed in Alabama in 2016, the group is in the midst of a breakout year. They have been nominated for Emerging Act of the Year at the 2024 Americana Music Awards and continue to achieve massive success with their single, “Wondering Why.”
