A Final Farewell with ‘Ten'
In the midst of their final tour, ‘The BIG Finish,' MR. BIG decided to create one last studio album inspired by their fans who have shared in their emotional farewell over the past year. The band, known for their incredible musical partnership spanning over three decades, has reignited their spark with the help of D’Virgilio. ‘Ten' marks a new chapter, blending raw, unadulterated riff rock and blues with all the classic MR. BIG elements fans love.
First Single ‘Good Luck Trying'
The album’s first single, ‘Good Luck Trying,' is a loud, raw '70s blues rocker that pulls influence from MR. BIG’s earliest musical inspirations. Eric Martin describes the album as “raw, unadulterated riff rock and blues with all the MR. BIG trimmings.” Paul Gilbert adds that the lyrics of the song are about “being overwhelmed with life, and realising that you won’t win many of the battles, but still fighting to the end. And keeping a sense of humour about it by saying to anyone nearby, ‘Wish me good luck trying!'”
Nick D'Virgilio Joins MR. BIG
Nick D'Virgilio, known for his work with Tears for Fears, Sheryl Crow, and Peter Gabriel, brings his extensive experience to ‘Ten.' He has a major presence in the progressive rock world with his bands Spock's Beard and Big Big Train, and spent almost five years touring with Cirque Du Soleil's “Totem” as a drummer, vocalist, and assistant bandleader. His contributions add a new dimension to MR. BIG's sound on this album.
The BIG Finish Tour
MR. BIG recently completed the South American leg of their farewell tour, ‘The BIG Finish,' where they performed their 1991 album ‘Lean Into It' in full along with other hits from their career. The tour, a tribute to Pat Torpey who passed away in 2018, began in Japan and Southeast Asia with 11 sold-out shows, including a memorable performance at Budokan in Tokyo.
