Prepare for a theatrical extravaganza as singing sensation Jason Donovan gears up to dazzle audiences across the UK later this year. Donovan is set to join the cast of Richard O’Brien’s cult classic rock ‘n’ roll musical, ‘The Rocky Horror Show', portraying the iconic role of Frank ‘n' Furter for a 2024/2025 UK tour. This marks Donovan's return to the role after over 25 years.
The tour is scheduled to kick off on August 19th 2024. It will run until February 1st 2025 giving plenty of opportunity for devotees to come along and join the fun. Donovan, alongside a cast yet to be announced, will bring the ultimate party experience to audiences nationwide. The tour will open at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley from August 19th to 24th 2024.
Expressing his excitement, Donovan stated, “I am thrilled to dive into the exhilarating role of Frank ‘n' Furter with a fantastic new cast and Timewarp with audiences throughout the UK. We promise to deliver the freshest Rocky EVER, that audiences will not forget. So, buckle up, as the show promises to be a wild and wicked ride!”
Renowned for his role of Scott alongside Kylie Minogue in long-running Australian soap ‘Neighbours', and for his chart-topping music career, Donovan has proven his versatility on stage and screen. With a West End debut in 1991 as Joseph in ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' and subsequent successes in productions like ‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert' and ‘Grease The Musical', Donovan brings a wealth of experience to the stage. His sellout season at the Theatre Royal, Sydney, garnered rave reviews, solidifying his status as a stage powerhouse.
Directed by Christopher Luscombe, ‘The Rocky Horror Show' promises to deliver all the beloved songs and outrageous characters that have made it a global phenomenon for over five decades. Featuring iconic musical numbers such as ‘Sweet Transvestite', ‘Science Fiction/Double Feature', and, of course, ‘The Time-Warp', the show is a guaranteed party experience.
