Fancy Hagood and Michelle Branch pay homage to The Chicks in new video

Fancy Hagood has released the music video for “Isn't That Life” featuring Michelle Branch.

The campy music video pays homage to The Chicks' classic ‘Goodbye Earl. It was directed by Ford Fairchild and you can watch it below:

Fancy on the music video: “When talking through ideas with the director, Ford Fairchild, the idea hit me, ‘what if Michelle and I were Mary Anne and Wanda's (of ‘Goodbye Earl') younger cousins, reliving the generational patterns that happen in families.' The Chicks’ iconic music video was a big inspiration for us, but of course we had to put our own spin on it. The song is a positive outlook on heartbreak, but the video is a dark storyline told through a campy and humorous lens. After all, when you can look back and laugh at the bad times, you know you’ve really moved on.”

The video arrives with the announcement that Fancy will release ‘American Spirit: The Last Drag', a deluxe version of his acclaimed 2024 album. ‘The American Spirit‘ story continues with three new originals, including ‘The Mountains' feat. John Osborne (Brothers Osborne) as producer/guitarist, as well as two covers – a 90's-pop-country take on Lucie Silvas' ‘My Old Habits' and a powerful, timely version of The SteelDrivers' ‘Where Rainbows Never Die' feat. Mindy Smith and Maia Sharp.

On the deluxe: “'American Spirit' is my heart and my story poured into an album, and it’s challenging to tell it all in 11 songs. We had more songs recorded and more stories to tell that we had to get out into the world. ‘American Spirit: The Last Drag' is like that glorious last drag of a cigarette before you put it out and move on…and that’s what this deluxe is for my heart and this chapter of my story.”

Next month, Fancy will receive the HRC Visibility Award at the organization's annual Nashville Dinner, which will be presented to him by eight-time Grammy winning singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves. In April, he will hit the road for his first headlining tour, with stops in Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta and more. See a full list of tour dates at fancyhagood.com/tour.
