Legendary rock band Stereophonics have officially announced their thirteenth studio album, ‘Make ‘em Laugh, Make ‘em Cry, Make ‘em Wait' set for release on April 25, 2025, via EMI. The highly anticipated record is available for pre-order now, marking the band’s return with a collection of tightly crafted tracks that showcase their signature sound and lyrical depth.
Accompanying the album announcement, Stereophonics have also unveiled a brand-new single, ‘There’s Always Gonna Be Something', offering fans a taste of what’s to come. The song blends chorus-affected guitars with suspended bass lines, creating an atmospheric backdrop for Kelly Jones’ distinctive husky vocals. The lyrics, rich with imagery and introspection, invite listeners to uncover deeper meanings with each play.
Jones describes the track as an exploration of inner turmoil and resilience, stating: “‘There’s Always Gonna Be Something’ is a song that could be describing the restlessness in uncertainty, struggling to arrive at acceptance. A part within all of us.”
With a career spanning three decades and an impressive track record of eight number-one albums, Stereophonics continue to solidify their status as one of the UK’s most enduring and influential bands. Their latest effort, ‘Make ‘em Laugh, Make ‘em Cry, Make ‘em Wait,' promises to be a lean, impactful eight-track album that evokes a spectrum of emotions—true to its title.
Jones has once again drawn inspiration from various artistic mediums for the album’s aesthetic. Reflecting on its cover art, he shares: “I went to New York, visited some galleries, and saw ‘ART IS A GUARANTY OF SANITY’ by Louise Bourgeois. The simplicity of the words etched onto a pink tile struck me. I tried scratching my title in a similar way, inspired by my own art school teacher from thirty years ago. And I loved it. The simplicity of the pink. The pink album was born.”
In addition to new music, the band is gearing up for an extensive world tour, with over 300,000 tickets already sold. Their upcoming shows promise to be some of their most powerful performances yet, reinforcing their reputation for delivering electrifying live experiences.
With ‘Make ‘em Laugh, Make ‘em Cry, Make ‘em Wait,' Stereophonics prove once again that they remain at the forefront of rock music, seamlessly blending classic influences with fresh, contemporary energy. Fans can expect an album that stays true to the band’s roots while pushing their sound forward in bold and exciting ways.
