Kyle McKearney releases new soulful song ‘Hold On Goodbye’

Award-winning Indigenous Americana and alt-country artist Kyle McKearney is back with his latest release, ‘Hold On Goodbye.' The track, co-written by McKearney along with Aaron Pollock and Lydia Sutherland, is poised to be an instant classic and offers fans a glimpse into McKearney’s highly anticipated third studio album.

“Hold On Goodbye” explores the emotional complexities of relationships, capturing the delicate balance between holding on and letting go. McKearney describes the song as a reflection of the struggles couples face during tough times. “Every relationship has its trials and tribulations,” McKearney shared. “Sometimes the only way to hold on is to keep fighting. ‘Hold On Goodbye’ is just that—the place where you feel like ‘this is over,’ but if we can just sleep on it, maybe we’ll be able to keep fighting for it tomorrow.”

The track builds to a gorgeously harmonious chorus that just begs to be sung along to. The underlying female vocal gives the song a real Gospel feel alongside the bluesy guitars and keys. McKearney exudes southern soul with a hint of Gospel redemption.

The track follows a series of recent successes for McKearney, including his heartfelt single ‘Alberta, Save My Soul,' which helped raise over $11K for Alberta Wildfire relief. His upcoming album has been co-produced by McKearney and the acclaimed Russel Broom (Paul McCartney, Jann Arden), with mixing by six-time Grammy Award-winner Vance Powell (Chris Stapleton, Willie Nelson, Beyoncé).

Recent singles like ‘Wedding Day' and ‘Broken Hearts Hide' have already garnered national attention, with ‘Wedding Day' receiving significant radio play on iHeartRadio/Pure Country stations across Canada and being featured on CMT Australia. McKearney’s previous album, A Traveler’s Lament, took home the 2023 Canadian Country Music Award for Alternative Country Album of the Year, and it has been shortlisted for the 2024 Grammy Awards in the Best Regional Roots Album category.

With 25 award nominations and 11 wins this year alone, McKearney is quickly solidifying his place as one of Canada’s most exciting Americana and alternative-country artists. He has shared the stage with major acts like The Black Crowes, Lainey Wilson, and Darius Rucker, and his fanbase continues to grow internationally, especially after his recent UK tour.

‘Hold On Goodbye' is yet another example of McKearney's ability to blend raw emotion with thoughtful songwriting. Fans can expect more standout tracks as he continues to roll out new music ahead of his third album’s release.
