Walter Presents will bring Canadian-French crime drama ‘Detective Surprenant' to C4 Streaming in July.
The gripping six-part crime drama is set against the hauntingly beautiful backdrop of the Magdalen Islands. It stars Patrick Hivon, Catherine Brunet and Jean-François Pichette, and is written by Marie-Ève Bourassa and Maureen Martineau.
Adapted from Jean Lemieux’s acclaimed novels, the series follows Sergeant Detective André Surprenant, a former major crimes investigator from Montréal now stationed in the quiet village of Cap-aux-Meules.
When the mayor’s teenage daughter, Rosalie Richard, is found murdered in a chillingly staged scene, the tranquil island community is thrown into turmoil. Surprenant, still haunted by past professional missteps, leads the investigation alongside the astute AgentGeneviève Savoie. As they delve deeper, they uncover a web of secrets lurking beneath the village’s serene surface
Tensions escalate with the arrival of Chief Inspector Sébastien Gingras, Surprenant’s arrogant former colleague, who takes over the case, leading to a clash of egos and investigative styles. Surprenant must solve the case before the killer strikes again.
