Max Alan signs to Sony Nashville and releases reflective new single ‘Love When We Were Young’

Rising Appalachian artist Max Alan is entering a defining new chapter in his career, signing with Sony Music Nashville and releasing his brand new single ‘Love When We Were Young' today.

For Alan, the signing marks a major milestone after years of building his career independently. “I’m so grateful for this team at Sony Nashville,” he shared. “They were the first to really take a chance on me. I’m so excited to create meaningful music and have such a great crew supporting it.” Arriving alongside the announcement, ‘Love When We Were Young' captures a more reflective side of the Pennsylvania native’s songwriting. Rooted in nostalgia and emotional honesty, the track explores the idea of growing older while holding onto the same sense of love and connection that defined the early days of a relationship.

“The song encompasses that feeling of getting older but keeping the same love in a youthful heart,” Alan explained. “Through all the trials in building a life worth living, you always remember what made you first fall in love with your person: why forever was even a thought so early on.”

Alan’s journey to this point has been anything but conventional. Raised in southwest Pennsylvania’s coal mining region, he first turned to writing as a way to fund his education, crafting poems in high school to win scholarships. That instinct for storytelling would later shape his music, culminating in his 2024 debut album ‘Appalachian Lullaby,' recorded in his childhood bedroom with the help of his cousin. The project found organic success online, earning attention for its raw, unfiltered lyricism.

Since then, Alan has continued to build momentum with releases including ‘Jericho' and his recent EP ‘Already Left,' while also taking his music on the road. He is currently touring with Josiah and the Bonnevilles and is set to join Dylan Gossett and Charles Wesley Godwin on their co-headlining run later this year.

With a major label backing him and new music now out in the world, Max Alan’s next chapter is already underway and if ‘Love When We Were Young' is any indication, it’s one rooted firmly in authenticity, reflection and the kind of storytelling that first set him apart.
