Southall announce new album ‘Kinfolk’ as Country-Rock outfit gear up for biggest year yet

Country-rock risers Southall have announced their brand-new album ‘Kinfolk,' set for release on May 1, marking a defining moment for the Oklahoma-bred band as they continue their steady climb from grassroots favourites to major-stage contenders.

Produced by GRAMMY-nominated Wes Sharon, ‘Kinfolk' captures the essence of Southall’s identity—blending old-school country storytelling with the grit and energy of rock ‘n’ roll. Frontman Read Southall has shaped the project into something both intimate and expansive, with themes rooted in family, legacy, love and loss, all set against a backdrop that feels like a sun-soaked road trip through the American heartland.

The album arrives after years of quiet but determined growth. With nearly 800 million career streams and a reputation built on relentless touring, Southall have carved out a loyal following the hard way. Recent releases like ‘Freight Train' and ‘Burning Bridges' have already hinted at the sonic weight and emotional depth of Kinfolk, showcasing a band unafraid to lean into heavier, more introspective territory while still delivering the kind of anthemic punch their fans expect.

That momentum is set to accelerate in 2026. The band will join ZZ Top and Dwight Yoakam for select dates this spring, before stepping onto even bigger stages this summer as part of the Southern Hospitality Tour alongside The Black Crowes and Whiskey Myers. The run includes a major milestone performance at Bridgestone Arena, placing them in front of their largest audiences to date.

Beyond the stage, Southall’s reach continues to expand. Recently named Artist of the Month by Texas Roadhouse, their music has been spotlighted across more than 700 locations nationwide—further proof that their once-underground appeal is breaking into the mainstream.

At its core, ‘Kinfolk' is about connection. As Read Southall puts it, the title reflects an “all for one, one for all” mentality—an open invitation for fans to feel part of something bigger. It’s a philosophy that mirrors the band’s journey: built on loyalty, shared experience, and a refusal to take themselves too seriously.
