Annie Bosko is giving new life to one of her most meaningful songs with the release of ‘God Winks (moments),' a powerful pop reimagining of a fan-favourite track from her debut album ‘California Cowgirl.'
Originally produced by Trent Willmon, ‘God Winks' first resonated as a heartfelt country ballad rooted in storytelling and simplicity. Now, with this new version co-produced by David Mescon and Bosko herself, the song expands into something more cinematic — a sweeping, emotional power ballad that leans into its message of hope and divine timing.
The song’s origins are deeply personal. Written during a period of uncertainty, it traces back to a time when Bosko returned home to California to recover from vocal cord surgery just as the pandemic began. Faced with questions about her future, she made a promise to herself: she would only return to Nashville once she had a reason — a gig — to go back.
That leap of faith led to a moment she now describes as life-changing — a chance encounter with Amy Grant and Vince Gill. “Amy and Vince were both ‘God Winks’ in my life,” Bosko shared, describing them as divine reminders to keep moving forward when she felt lost. In a full-circle moment, she later recorded a duet version of the song with Grant, further deepening its meaning.
Co-written with Rachel Thibodeau, Jet Harvey and Michael Wilkes, ‘God Winks' captures those small, unexpected moments that restore faith just when it feels like hope is slipping away. Its message — that even in the darkest times, you are not alone — remains at the heart of both versions, but the new arrangement elevates it with a broader, more anthemic sound.
For Bosko, the evolution of the song has been as meaningful as its message. “I love that ‘God Winks’ is taking on this cool life of its own,” she said. “Whether it’s incredible musicians wanting to record new versions with me, or fans telling me how the song has helped them find more hope in their lives — we all need that reminder that no matter what you’re going through, God’s got your back.”
With ‘God Winks (moments),' Annie Bosko transforms a deeply personal story into a universal one — proving that sometimes the smallest signs can carry the biggest meaning.
