All-star hard rock collective Black Swan have officially returned, unveiling their brand-new single and video, ‘Paralyzed', the title track from their forthcoming studio album due for release on February 27, 2026, via Frontiers Music Srl. Featuring a formidable line-up of Robin McAuley (McAuley Schenker Group), Reb Beach (Winger, Whitesnake), Jeff Pilson (Foreigner, The End Machine, ex-Dokken), and Matt Starr (Ace Frehley, Mr. Big), the band once again deliver a powerful statement in modern melodic hard rock. Pre-orders for the album are right here.
The new single tackles the growing sense of anxiety and emotional overload that defines life in the modern world. Vocalist Robin McAuley explains that ‘Paralyzed' was born from the feeling of being overwhelmed by constant negativity. “It’s difficult not to become submerged in the news and negative comments presented to us through all media sources,” he says. “That feeling of being numb and unsafe, desperate for change and craving something positive, yet repeatedly overwhelmed—leaving us feeling paralyzed.”
Bassist and producer Jeff Pilson expands on that theme, describing the song as a reflection of a shared global unease. “It’s scary, overwhelming and seemingly never-ending,” he notes. “We need to find the positive in all the negativity, and we need it soon. Plus—it rocks.” Drummer Matt Starr agrees, calling the track a prime example of what Black Swan do best: “Hard-driving, high-energy rock ’n’ roll with great melodies, tons of hooks, thought-provoking, timely lyrics and exceptional musicianship.”
Guitarist Reb Beach reveals that the song’s origins were rooted in classic metal inspiration. “I was going for a Black Sabbath ‘Neon Knights’ vibe when I started writing it,” he explains. “Once Jeff and Robin got their hands on it, it blossomed into the title track. Guitar-wise, it’s a very cool song—and I hope we get to play it live one day because it really rocks.”
The release of ‘Paralyzed' also sets the tone for what the band describe as their strongest album to date. McAuley believes the quartet have taken a significant step forward creatively. “We’ve taken our songwriting to another level on this one,” he says. “Amazing guitar riffs from Reb, pounding bass from Jeff, thunderous drums from Matt, and soaring melodies with strong lyrics. Combine that with sheer heaviness and we think the fans are going to love it.” Beach adds that the band’s identity remains rooted in classic values: “Black Swan is old-school ’80s rock—all about good guitar riffs with badass vocals. No one sings this kind of music better than Robin.”
Produced by Pilson and tracked at his Los Angeles studio, ‘Paralyzed' captures the tight-knit chemistry that has defined Black Swan since their inception. All songs were written by McAuley, Pilson and Beach, and the album showcases the band operating at peak performance—towering vocals, razor-sharp riffs and hook-laden melodies delivered with power and precision. While unmistakably classic in spirit, the album also feels contemporary, expanding on the blueprint established by their debut.
Black Swan first emerged from a conversation between Jeff Pilson and Frontiers President & Head of A&R Serafino Perugino, who envisioned a project that would spotlight McAuley’s legendary voice against a formidable musical backbone. The result was 2020’s “Shake The World”, followed by 2022’s “Generation Mind”, both critically praised for their cohesion, energy and songwriting strength. With ‘Paralyzed', the band aim not just to meet expectations, but to surpass them.
Fresh, heavy and melodically rich, ‘Paralyzed' cements Black Swan’s place as a formidable force in modern hard rock. Whether you’ve followed these musicians since the glory days of ’80s rock or are discovering them for the first time, this new chapter is essential listening—proof that experience, passion and chemistry still make for a devastatingly powerful combination.
