Craig David to release 25th anniversary edition of debut album ‘Born To Do It’

Craig David will mark the 25th anniversary of his debut album ‘Born To Do It', with the release of ‘Born To Do It: 25th Anniversary Edition' on 12th December 2025.

Upon its original release ‘Born To Do It' shot to number 1 in the UK and became the fastest-selling debut by a British male solo artist. The album features the Artful Dodger collaboration ‘Rewind' and the number one singles ‘Fill Me In' and ‘7 Days', along with ‘Walking Away’.

During the album's cycle David picked up Ivor Novellos, his first four MOBO Awards, two Grammy nominations, and two MTV Europe Awards. The album was certified 6 x Platinum in the UK and it earned further Platinum certifications in the US, Australia, Germany, France and beyond.

Craig David says, “25 years ago, my world changed. ‘Born to Do It’ was released and the life I’d only imagined as a kid became reality. This album grew from moments with my mum, from browsing record shops in London to singing for her in our flat. She championed my dreams and believed in me long before I ever did. It also owes so much to my dad’s inspiration and to countless hours spent alone with my Walkman.

I grew up on a council estate, writing songs that carried my dreams, never imagining they would one day take flight. Meeting Mark Hill was instrumental in shaping this record. I’ll always treasure our time in the studio and the magic we created. I’m grateful for the journey this album has taken me on and for the love you still share after all these years. It’s humbling and beautiful to know it still resonates so deeply.”

The original album is boosted with a host of additional material, much of which is debuting on digital platforms. These include the Blacksmith R&B Rerub remix featuring Know ?uestion of ‘Rendezvous’ as well as DJ Premier’s classic remix of ‘7 Days’, which brings an East Coast flavour to the smash hit with the help of a Mos Def feature and Craig David sounding radically different to his usual style. It also includes two b-sides, several remixes from the likes of Artful Dodger and Sunship, and a version of ‘7 Days’ featuring Fat Joe. All formats add two songs from the US version of the album in the shape of ‘Key To My Heart’ and ‘Fill Me In (Part 2)’.

‘Born To Do It: 25th Anniversary Edition’ is now available to pre-order / pre-save. It will be released on gold double-vinyl and digital formats, while Craig David’s official store offers an exclusive picture disc double-vinyl. Both stunning new vinyl variants represent the first time that ‘Born To Do It’ has been released on special vinyl having previously only been available in black.

Craig David recently announced that he will perform the entire album from start-to-finish during a special ‘Born To Do It' 25th anniversary show at London’s Eventim Apollo on April 9th. After that show sold-out in a matter of hours, a second night was added on April 10th due to phenomenal demand.
