Independent country newcomer Remy Garrison has released her lively Pop / Country new single ‘Icebreaker' today, alongside the announcement of her upcoming EP ‘S.H.H.' arriving October 24. With its bright banjo lines and tongue-in-cheek storytelling, ‘Icebreaker' captures the excitement and frustration of meeting someone new while waiting for them to make the first move. Written by Garrison with Shane Yoder and producer Mark Seigle, the track was inspired by her re-entry into the dating world after ending a five-year relationship, blending honesty with her signature pop-country charm.
“For the first half of my twenties I kind of lost myself in a not-so-great relationship, and getting out of that situation I feel like I’ve found myself in a lot of ways,” Garrison explained. “I rediscovered how fun it was to flirt with someone new–which is how ‘Icebreaker’ unfolded. I’ve gained a lot of independence and with that, confidence, both in who I am as a person and artist.”
That sense of confidence carries into her forthcoming EP ‘S.H.H.' which showcases Garrison’s boldest work yet. Tracks like the unapologetic breakup anthem ‘Sweet N Low' and the fiery ‘Bite Back' highlight her unfiltered voice and fearless storytelling. The Alabama native describes the project as a diary of self-discovery, packed with sass, honesty, and emotional snapshots from a transformative season of her life.
The title ‘S.H.H.' plays with irony, defiance, and personal meaning. While it hints at silence, the record is anything but quiet. For Garrison, the name represents her refusal to be muted by outside voices telling her what she should or shouldn’t say, wear, or be. “In this new season of life, I traded in some of that compliance and naivety for honesty and it feels really freeing, like I’ve ripped off duct tape over my mouth,” she said. The letters also double as a secret acronym, a personal code reflecting her emotions while writing the EP.
