Margo Price digs deep into her past on her latest single, ‘Losing Streak,' a raw, autobiographical track that reflects on her early years trying to make it in Nashville. Out now, the song paints vivid scenes of personal struggle—crashing in the backseat of a beat-up Ford Explorer, chasing dreams through self-doubt and long nights, and wrestling with whether leaving home was worth it at all.
Price co-wrote the track with her husband and longtime songwriting partner Jeremy Ivey. Fueled by a defiant organ riff and Price’s unshakable resilience, ‘Losing Streak' captures the chaos and clarity that shaped her artistic identity. It’s a story of survival and reinvention, showing how the lowest moments can fuel lasting transformation.
“‘Losing Streak’ tells the story of my early years coming up in Nashville,” Price explains. “It is a coming of age story inspired by struggle, substances and the search for the perfect song.”
The single offers a powerful glimpse into ‘Hard Headed Woman,' Price’s forthcoming album due August 29. Reuniting with producer Matt Ross-Spang and recording for the first time in RCA Studio A, Price returns to the Nashville that shaped her, both physically and musically. The new project marks a full-circle moment for the artist who helped redefine what it means to be a modern outlaw in a town known for its conformity.
Like her memoir ‘Maybe We’ll Make It'—set to be released in paperback on September 2—'Losing Streak' explores the difficult path she’s walked to carve her place in country music. The rest of ‘Hard Headed Woman' continues that thread, chronicling life through motherhood, marriage, grief, growth, and the gritty grind of the road.
In recent weeks, Price has released other tracks from the upcoming album, including the spirited ‘Don’t Wake Me Up' featuring Jesse Welles and the hard-hitting ‘Don’t Let The Bastards Get You Down,' co-written with Rodney Crowell. She also turned heads at Newport Folk Festival, where she took over the main stage with surprise appearances from Jesse Welles and John C. Reilly, tributes to Bob Dylan and Dolly Parton, and an electrifying cover of Neil Young’s ‘Rockin’ in the Free World' alongside Lukas Nelson, Stephen Wilson Jr. and Joe Russo.
Price is gearing up to take ‘Hard Headed Woman' on tour this fall. The Wild At Heart Tour kicks off in October and will span two dozen headlining dates across the U.S., including a hometown stop at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. She’ll be joined by a brand new band and wielding her own signature Gibson J-45 guitar. The tour follows recent performances with Mumford and Sons, and upcoming appearances at Farm Aid and other major festivals.
