The Grand Ole Opry paid tribute to legendary country music icon Charlie Daniels last night as part of its ongoing ‘Opry 100 Honors' series. The event, held at the historic Opry House in Nashville and sponsored by Dan Post, celebrated Daniels’ lasting impact on country music and the Opry’s century-long legacy. Performers included Opry members Trace Adkins, Jamey Johnson, Eddie Montgomery, Rhonda Vincent, and Chris Young, along with Gretchen Wilson, The Travelin’ McCourys and others.
The ‘Opry 100 Honors' series continues with upcoming shows spotlighting key figures in Opry history. On August 12, the Opry will honor Porter Wagoner with performances from Marty Stuart, The Isaacs, Mandy Barnett, and Old Crow Medicine Show’s Ketch Secor. Bill Monroe will be celebrated on September 16 with Ricky Skaggs, Del McCoury Band, Carly Pearce, and Riders In The Sky among the performers. On October 18, Minnie Pearl and Roy Acuff will be recognized with a lineup including Vince Gill, Bill Anderson, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Steve Wariner.
The series launched in May with a tribute to Loretta Lynn, followed by a June celebration of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. Highlights from the Loretta Lynn event will air July 19 on OPRY LIVE, while the Johnny and June special will air August 9. OPRY LIVE streams Saturday nights at 8 p.m. CT on the Opry’s Facebook and YouTube pages, and is available free on Circle Country via platforms like Roku, Peacock, Tubi, Fubo, and Samsung.
