Country music rising star Emily Ann Roberts has unveiled her most emotionally resonant single yet with the release of ‘The Fence,' available everywhere now. The track has already generated buzz, amassing over one million views on social media ahead of its official release. Fans can listen to the song now at this link.
Produced by Brandon Hood and co-written with acclaimed songwriters Jessi Alexander and Paul Sikes, ‘The Fence' showcases Roberts' signature blend of powerful vocals and honest storytelling. The lyrics tell the story of a woman torn between comfort and instinct, with lines like “There’s a good man on the porch / And I’m on the fence” encapsulating the emotional tension. The song captures the heartache of knowing something looks perfect on the surface but still doesn’t feel quite right.
“Sometimes in love everything makes sense on paper, but no matter how hard you try to convince yourself, you know deep down it’s just not the right fit,” said Roberts. “When I wrote this song with Jessi Alexander and Paul Sikes we put ourselves in the moment of trying to tell yourself it’s perfect and then fighting with the fears and doubts that it may not be.”
Bill Cody of WSM 650 AM and the Grand Ole Opry praised the track, saying, “That is the kind of song that will put you where you've always wanted to be. To see your dreams come true. That is wonderful.”
‘The Fence' follows a breakthrough year for Roberts, whose previous singles ‘Scratching Out a Living' and ‘Easy Does It' earned acclaim from US Weekly, SiriusXM’s The Highway, and CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown. She has also shared the stage with notable country acts including Blake Shelton, Cody Johnson, Megan Moroney, and Clint Black.
Roberts is currently on tour with a packed schedule across the U.S. Highlights include upcoming stops at CMA Fest in Nashville, supporting performances for Cody Johnson, Megan Moroney, and Clint Black, and a two-night run at the Bijou Theatre in her hometown of Knoxville.
