Review: Stagecoach 2025 delivers unforgettable moments in the desert

The 2025 edition of Stagecoach Festival went out in a blaze of country-fuelled glory, reaffirming its reputation as the world’s biggest and most culturally electric country music event. Held once again at California’s Empire Polo Fields, the Goldenvoice produced weekend brought in tens of thousands of fans and an army of livestream viewers via Amazon Music, all eager to catch a glimpse of country’s biggest stars and genre-bending surprise appearances that made this year’s festival feel more like a cultural summit than just another music weekend.

From the opening notes on Friday to the final encore on Sunday night, Stagecoach delivered a constant stream of jaw-dropping moments. Zach Bryan captivated the Mane Stage with his rugged, poetic songwriting while Lana Del Rey brought her signature dream-pop drama to the Palomino stage, premiering new music to an entranced crowd. T-Pain turned the Late Night at Palomino into a full-blown party, enlisting Kesha for an unforgettable cameo, while Paris Hilton and Lizzo lit up Diplo’s HonkyTonk alongside a killer DJ set from Diplo himself. Other standout performances included Brothers Osborne with a surprise assist from Kate Hudson, Nikki Lane’s outlaw country charm, and a hush-hush Mumford & Sons set that drew massive buzz.

Jelly Roll took a victory lap as he headlined Saturday, fulfilling a dream he spoke into existence at the previous year’s fest. His emotional, genre-defying set included surprise cameos from Lana Del Rey, Machine Gun Kelly, Wiz Khalifa, and more. Sturgill Simpson and Ashley McBryde delivered career-defining performances ahead of Jelly’s set, while Creed brought the late-2000s nostalgia full throttle, joined by Tori Kelly. Shaboozey, fresh off Coachella, pulled a massive crowd to the Mane Stage, and Nelly celebrated 25 years of ‘Country Grammar' with a booming Palomino set.

Sunday continued the magic with Luke Combs closing the weekend with a heartfelt set of chart-topping hits, made even more special by appearances from country icon Garth Brooks, pop-punk legends Good Charlotte, and rising star Bailey Zimmerman. Midland dazzled with help from Noah Cyrus, Marcus King, and Mackenzie Carpenter, while Flatland Cavalry earned raves for their red-dirt country stylings. Palomino kept the energy alive with powerful sets from Goo Goo Dolls and Sammy Hagar, while Diplo’s HonkyTonk wrapped the weekend in style with sets from Steve Aoki, DJ Pee .Wee (Anderson .Paak), Sofi Tukker, and Diplo’s own Thomas Wesley persona alongside Chris Comstock. The Backstreet Boys delivered a wildly nostalgic and unexpected capstone performance for the final Late Night at Palomino.

Beyond the music, the food scene also sizzled thanks to the return of Guy Fieri’s Stagecoach Smokehouse. The desert pop-up food haven was packed daily, with the celebrity chef joined by a rotating cast of culinary guests and artists for live demonstrations. Festival-goers saw Jelly Roll and Shaboozey don aprons, Tracy Lawrence and Midland take to the grill, and Brothers Osborne pairing up with Whiskey Myers to spice up the weekend's eats.
