Alison Krauss & Union Station unveil ‘Granite Mills’

Alison Krauss & Union Station have debuted new single ‘Granite Mills', the second preview from their first album in 14 years.

The 10-song set, ‘Arcadia‘, is set for release on 28th March 2025 on Down the Road Records. The songs transcend time, reveal beautiful and tragic truths, and reaffirm why the group remains one of the most influential, widely celebrated acts of the past four decades. ‘Granite Mills' follows on from ‘Looks Like the End of the Road' and it showcases the gripping vocal talents of brand new band member Russell Moore.

“Jerry, Ron, Barry and I all met when Dan Tyminski left the band, and Jerry asked me, ‘What do you think?’ I said, ‘Russell Moore,’ and they all said, ‘Absolutely!’ I couldn't believe it when we went into the studio and his voice came through the speakers,” says Alison Krauss. “He just stands there and sings with his hands in his pockets, and he kills it. The first song he did was ‘Granite Mills’ and about 10 minutes in, Ron was covering his mouth because he started giggling. Russell came in and inspired us all.”

Best known as the frontman for chart-topping group IIIrd Tyme Out, Russell Moore is the International Bluegrass Music Association’s most awarded male vocalist of all time, further adding to Alison Krauss & Union Station’s decorated history of more than 70 collective GRAMMY Awards, tens of millions of albums sold, and numerous other accolades. But even during the band’s extended period apart – each member building a thriving solo career, collaborating with some of the greatest artists in the world – they never stopped searching for and patiently collecting the music that might one day bring them back together.

Beginning this spring, Alison Krauss (fiddle, lead vocal), Jerry Douglas (Dobro, lap steel, vocals), Ron Block (banjo, guitar, vocals), Barry Bales (bass, vocals) and Russell Moore (co-lead vocals, guitar, mandolin) will perform the music of Arcadia live at 75 tour dates across North America. From April through September, stops include iconic venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre, LA’s Greek Theatre, NYC’s Beacon Theatre and dozens more, with special guest Willie Watson.
