The Darkness have dropped their latest single, ‘Rock And Roll Party Cowboy,' the fiery opening track from their highly anticipated album ‘Dreams On Toast' set for release on March 28 via Cooking Vinyl. Fans can pre-order the album now here.
‘Rock And Roll Party Cowboy' is a hard-rocking homage to the hedonistic, larger-than-life music scene of the ‘70s and ‘80s. Channeling the spirit of legends like ZZ Top, Motörhead, and Judas Priest, the track boasts blistering guitar solos, soaring vocals, and a thunderous rhythm section, delivering a tongue-in-cheek take on the era’s macho bravado.
Frontman Justin Hawkins shared his enthusiasm for the new single, saying, “People recognise me as astronaut pirate movie star cool and that’s obviously accurate. What they may have overlooked though, is that I am also ROCK AND ROLL PARTY COWBOY cool… which is a good 15 percent cooler! I think you’ll recognise that in the first listen.”
The single is accompanied by a dynamic visualiser featuring footage from the band’s intimate December shows at London’s Rough Trade store. It’s the third release from ‘Dreams On Toast' following the glam punk anthem ‘I Hate Myself' and the playful, pop-infused ‘The Longest Kiss' showcasing the band’s remarkable versatility and creative flair.
Produced by Dan Hawkins, ‘Dreams On Toast' captures The Darkness at their very best. The album is a celebration of their influences while also exploring new sonic territory, promising to be a bold and brilliant addition to their acclaimed discography.
Marking over two decades of their multi-platinum, award-winning career, The Darkness continue to push boundaries, dazzling fans with fresh surprises. The upcoming album is poised to further solidify their status as one of Britain’s most significant rock bands.
To celebrate the release, The Darkness will embark on their Dreams On Toast UK headline tour, playing 18 dates across the country, culminating in a massive show at London’s OVO Wembley Arena on March 29. The band will then head to Europe for an additional 21 dates.
