Robbie Williams has released a new version of his iconic anthem ‘Angels', which features on the soundtrack of his new biopic ‘Better Man'.
The song has been re-recorded and arranged especially for the film. It is features in a moving part of the film where Robbie says goodbye to a beloved family member. The film hits UK cinemas on 26th December 2024.
‘Angels’ was written by Robbie and long-time collaborator Guy Chambers. The song was included on Robbie’s debut 1997 solo album, ‘Life Thru a Lens', and released as a single in December that year. The song remains Robbie’s best-selling single and is revered around the world as one of the most-loved songs of all time.
The ‘Better Man (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)' album is released digitally via Columbia Records on 27th December 2024 with a physical release to follow which can be pre-ordered now. The album will be available in three formats – CD, cassette and alt cassette.
The artwork for the soundtrack album mirrors the film poster – an homage to Williams’ unforgettable album cover, ‘Life Thru a Lens’. The original album cover image was taken by renowned music and portrait photographer, Andy Earl. The film poster and soundtrack artwork sees Williams portrayed as he is seen throughout the entire film – as a CGI monkey.
Discussing the film, director Michael Gracey honed in on Robbie referring to himself as a monkey over and again. He said: “Robbie would say things like, ‘I’m up the back dancing like a monkey.’ After a while, I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be amazing to represent Robbie as a monkey in the film?’ Because Robbie is telling this story – and that’s how he sees himself.” Watch the trailer for the film here.
