Known as the first female trio since The Chicks to break the Top 5 on the U.S. Mediabase Country Chart, Runaway June continues to prove their staying power with this sassy and relatable track.
Behind the Song: A True-to-Life Tale
Produced by two-time GRAMMY winner Kristian Bush (Sugarland, Megan Moroney), the high-energy track was co-written by band members Jennifer Wayne, Natalie Stovall, and Stevie Woodward during what started as a casual venting session.
“Jen says, ‘He ain’t my problem no more,’ and we’re like, ‘Oh, snap! We’ve got to write that one,’” recalls Stevie. With parmesan fries and wine fuelling their creativity, the trio penned a song that’s raw, real, and just a little too personal.
Jennifer adds, “I thought I’d have a family that always stuck together, but sometimes stuff just happens. If you’re going through a divorce or a breakup, this song is for you.”
Live Energy Captured in the Studio
The track channels the spirit of Runaway June’s electrifying live performances. “Every time we play this song live, the audience is right there with us,” shares Natalie. “When we recorded it, we wanted to capture that same energy of having fun and moving on.”
The song’s driving guitars and pulsating rhythm reflect the determination to move forward, while the lyrics combine heartbreak and humor:
