If I had one complaint about Our Place’s products it’s that the knobs on the Always Pan and Perfect Pot lids get very hot when you use the products on the stovetop. It can be tricky to use the Our Place grips to clasp the knobs so you end up having to resort to a tea towel. Well now, Our Place have a solution with the release of their Metallic Knob Set, which offers knobs in Gold, Rose Gold and Iridescent colours.
First things first, the knobs are incredibly easy to add to your Our Place pans. Each set includes four (one each for the Always Pan and Perfect Pot, and one each for their miniature versions). These are highlighted nicely in the box so you know which knob belongs to which product. The existing knobs easily screw off the products and you just screw the new knobs in their place. Any knobs you take off, you can store back in the box so you know which one is which should you wish to change them again at any point.
Like the pans, the knobs are oven safe to 450 F / 230 C so you don’t need to worry about running them in you bake something in the oven. One of the selling points of the knobs is that they claim to be cool on the stovetop but is that the case? I put them to the test by cooking pasta in my Perfect Pot with the lid on. It’s fair to say that the knob didn’t get as hot as the original one did but it didn’t stay completely cool either. I could just about use my bare hands to lift the lid off but the knob definitely absorbs some heat.
The same proved to be true for the Always Pan but they did feel considerably less warm than the original knobs. They also look nice too. I have the Gold set and they do add a touch of class to your Our Place products. They also allow you to customise your cookware so it feels a little more unique to you, which is a nice touch.
The Metallic Knob Set is a nice-to-have addition to the Our Place range but I do wish they stayed cooler than they do. This is perhaps the first time I’ve been mildly disappointed with an Our Place product but no doubt a new version will rectify the issues I’ve outlined here. The knobs look nice and they are easy to add to your pans, but I’m not convinced they improve as much as they should on the original knobs.
