Morgan Wallen, fresh off the massive success of his third studio album ‘One Thing At A Time' —now certified 7x Platinum by the RIAA—has just released the first glimpse of his highly anticipated new project with the single ‘Love Somebody.' The track, which is available now, gives fans a fresh take on Wallen’s signature sound.
“‘Love Somebody’ is a little bit of a new approach lyrically and sonically,” Wallen shared. “I wanted to try something different, with what I wanted to talk about, how I wanted it to sound, and we were inspired by Latin-leaning influences. I’m really excited about this song and pumped that it is out.”
The track was written by Wallen alongside John Byron, Ashley Gorley, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Elof Loelv, and Ryan Vojtesak, with production handled by Joey Moi and Charlie Handsome, the team behind Wallen’s previous albums ‘Dangerous: The Double Album' and ‘One Thing At A Time.' Set against a neon-lit, rhythmic backdrop, ‘Love Somebody' explores Wallen’s search for genuine connection in a world driven by materialism:
I just wanna love somebody
Who won't leave a hole in my heart
I just wanna love somebody
That don’t want me fallin’ apart
And I’ll be lucky if I ever find
A somethin' more than just a crazy night
I just wanna love somebody
‘Love Somebody' offers a vulnerable and reflective side of Wallen as he seeks authenticity in his relationships, a theme that resonates with his fans. He first previewed the song during the European leg of his One Night At A Time 2024 Tour and later announced its release during his record-breaking hometown shows at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee. Wallen's performances at the stadium made history, drawing 156,161 fans across two nights, surpassing The Jackson 5's record as the venue’s largest weekend ever.
Wallen has been riding high this year with major hits like Billboard’s 2024 Song of the Summer ‘I Had Some Help' featuring Post Malone, and his latest single ‘Lies, Lies, Lies.' As he gears up for the release of his next project, Wallen will conclude his epic One Night At A Time Tour with two consecutive shows at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium on Oct. 18-19. The tour, which spanned 87 shows across 10 countries, 51 stadiums, and multiple festivals and arenas, was named Country Tour of the Year by Billboard and Pollstar in 2023.
