Is it Mitchell Tenpenny or Evanescence on new song ‘Demon or Ghost?’

Platinum-selling country artist Mitchell Tenpenny has dropped a new track ‘Demon or Ghost' featuring Grammy-nominated rock band Underoath, as he builds anticipation for his upcoming third studio album ‘The 3rd.' The song is now available across all digital platforms, and the full 20-track album, set for release on September 20, is available for pre-order.

In reflecting on the collaboration, Tenpenny shared, “Writing ‘Demon or Ghost' was a really special experience for me. It was my first time writing with Spencer Chamberlain [Underoath's lead vocalist], and having Aaron Gillespie [Underoath's drummer] there made it even better. They’ve been one of my favorite rock bands for years, so getting to work with them was a dream come true.”

The track dives into the haunting feeling of encountering people from the past, with Tenpenny explaining, “We started talking about how running into someone you used to know can feel like seeing a ghost. You’re not sure if they’re haunting you or if you actually want them around. The question became, ‘Are you a demon or a ghost? Are you here to destroy everything, or just to remind me that you’re still around?’ Writing this rock-influenced song was a new and intriguing challenge for me.”

Spencer Chamberlain also shared his excitement about the collaboration. “When I found out Mitchell was a fan, I was beyond flattered. Writing with him was such an organic experience, and I’m so proud of what we created together. His voice is so unique and powerful, unlike anything else in modern country music. This song is a true collision of our worlds, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”

The release of “Demon or Ghost” is accompanied by a music video, featuring both Spencer Chamberlain and Aaron Gillespie, directed by Zach Pigg and Chelsea Rochelle with visual effects by Josiah Moore.

As Tenpenny gears up for the release of The 3rd, he is wrapping up his stint as a guest on Luke Combs' ‘Growin' Up and Gettin' Old Tour,' with the final show at NRG Stadium in Houston on August 10. He will then kick off his own ‘Woke Up In A Dream Tour' on September 12 in Las Vegas, with The Castellows opening the first weekend and Dylan Schneider joining for the rest of the shows. Tickets for the tour went on sale July 19 and can be purchased at Mitchell10Penny.com.
