Walter Presents is bringing crime drama ‘1985' to Channel 4 in September it has been confirmed.
The series stars Tijmen Govaerts, Aimé Claeys, Mona Mina Leon, Peter Van Den Begin, Roda Fawaz, Tom Vermeier, Yoann Blanc, Titus De Voog and Guillaume Kerbusch. It is written by Willem Wallyn and directed by Wouter Bouvijn.
Set against the backdrop of Belgium’s most notorious unsolved crime spree, 1985 is about one of the darkest pages in Belguim’s history, marked by police corruption and crimes committed by the so-called ‘Brabant Killers’.
In 1980, best friends Marc (Tijmen Govaerts) and Franky (Aimé Claeys), and his sister Vicky (Mona Mina Leon), begin a new chapter of their lives, when they set off from their hometown to move to Brussels. Vicky as a law student and pirate radio DJ, Marc and Franky as two young Gendarmarie police recruits. But as their adulthood and careers in the big city commence, the trio risk losing their innocence and ideals as they find themselves caught in the middle of the horrifying events that shocked a generation and will come to leave a scar on the entire country.
This is the coming-of-age story of three unbreakfable friends loss of innocence, and that of a nation in its leaders. ‘1985' will make for a full-throttle trip back in time, keen on reminding us that the present is always informed by the past.
Walter Presents: ‘1985' will launch on Channel 4 on 16th September 2024 at midnight. It will be available as a full boxset from 13th September via C4 Streaming.
