Jordan Davis tells Apple Music he wants to get back to releasing music that sounds like his ‘Home State’ album
I was missing the ‘Home State’ kind of fun songs that really was what I fell in love with songwriting in Nashville, writing those songs. So, it's been cool to kind of come back to that. And I think it's things like when people come in and they're like, “Hey, man. What are you doing? What's this next record? What do we need to write? I've got a family song idea, I've got this, this.” And I was like, “Man, I'm going to take a break from that for a little bit.”

I think up into this point, it's always been like, “All right. What's the best song?” Which is why we went “Buy Dirt”, why we went with “Next Thing You Know.” And now it's like, “Okay. Well, we have those, but I know a lot of these people too are here [at shows] to have a great time and be entertained.” And I wanted to get back. I was like, “I don't want to do that again.” Yes, there will be some of those songs on the album. I just felt like as a single and what the show needed was, “I Ain't Sayin’.”

The tour I did with Dierks, I mean, it was a masterclass. His band is obviously top-notch, amazing guys, amazing players. Dierks is an amazing entertainer… When he plays “5-1-5-0”… It erupts. You can't not be there and have fun… Until you're there and see it in that setting and just see the absolute chaos that happens when that song starts, you can't not have a great time. And I think that's kind of where I've tried to kind of go with this next album. So, thank you, Dierks.
Jordan Davis Tells Apple Music How He Met His Wife, Kristen
We met in Houma, Louisiana. I was down there for my college roommate's wedding, and she was down for a sorority sister's wedding that was from Houma. And we met at the Holiday Inn, I think it was. And her and two friends came in. We were sitting in the lobby waiting for some buddies to come down, and they walked in, and I was like, “Dang, man. That girl's cute.” And he's like, “You should go ask her to come hang out with us.”… And so, he was a good wing man on that. She hung out with us that night. The next night we flew out of New Orleans. The first bar we walk into in New Orleans, they're in there. And I ended up changing my flight to the next day, so I hung out with them that entire night.
