This month sees the UK premiere of multi award-winning Israeli Puppet Company The Train Theater. Its show ‘Once Upon a World' is the visually innovative story about the bravery of a little penguin, demonstrating that we are the same the world over. It boasts an outstanding soundtrack and is non-verbal – so is accessible to all.
‘Once Upon a World' can be caught at JW3 on Thursday 11, Friday 12, and Sunday 14 July 2024 – for six performances only!
‘Once Upon a World' is a visually captivating tale of a small, courageous, and playful penguin journeying around the globe on his way home to Antarctica. Two dancers embody various animals, reconnecting the audience to nature and the earth through an inspiring blend of dance theatre, puppetry, music, and clowning. Created by performer Aviv Horovitz, alongside dancer Yuval Finkelshtein, the performance brings to life a world of beauty, precise body movement, grace, and laughter, highlighting our similarities to the magnificent creatures with whom we share our beloved world.
The Train Theater's activities in Israel have significantly shifted since October 7th, 2023. They have been working with evacuated communities, particularly focusing on families and children displaced from the Gaza envelope communities and the northern regions. With their theatre closed, they have taken to the road, traveling and performing their puppet shows at hotels housing evacuated families. More importantly, they leverage their expertise in drama therapy through puppetry to support traumatised children who have witnessed so much.
