49 Winchester returns with their highly anticipated new album ‘Leavin’ This Holler,' set to release on August 2, 2024, via New West Records. This 10-song collection was co-produced by the band and Stewart Myers and features notable contributions from the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, singer-songwriter Maggie Antone, fiddler Philip Bowen, and guitarist Cole Chafin.
The band has just shared their new single ‘Fast Asleep.' Frontman Isaac Gibson described the track as an “emotional sledgehammer,” recalling that he wrote it when he was just 19. Initially part of their early live sets, the song was revisited for this album with fresh energy and depth, featuring the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. “The pedal steel on the chorus is some of my favourite work on the record from Noah,” Gibson added.
Previously, 49 Winchester released the video for ‘Yearnin’ For You.' Gibson explained that the song captures the essence of life as a musician, particularly the sacrifices and emotional struggles that fans don’t often see. At its heart, the song is a love ballad about reuniting with loved ones after time spent on the road. “Absence makes the heart grow fonder,” Gibson noted.
‘Leavin’ This Holler' is the follow-up to their critically acclaimed New West debut, ‘Fortune Favors the Bold.' The album received rave reviews and was named one of the “25 Best Country and Americana Albums of 2022” by Rolling Stone. It has generated over 150 million global streams and earned the band a nomination for “Best Duo or Group” at the Americana Music Awards.
49 Winchester hails from Castlewood, Virginia, a small town in Southern Appalachia. The band was formed a decade ago by Gibson, his childhood friend Chase Chafin, and guitarist Bus Shelton. Their journey from playing local gigs to sharing stages with icons like Bob Seger and Tyler Childers has been marked by determination and a strong sense of family.
This week, 49 Winchester kicked off their debut European headline tour, selling out venues across the continent. They have announced additional tour dates and festival appearances, including debuts at Bonnaroo and CMA Fest, and a headlining performance at the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion in September.
Recorded in various studios across the country amid their busy tour schedule, ‘Leavin’ This Holler' showcases 49 Winchester’s signature blend of rollicking country and searing rock, now with a more mature and focused sound. “We wanted to explore every possible sound we could on this record,” Gibson said. “No stone left unturned sonically — we got it exactly where we wanted it.”
