Medium Build releases new album ‘Country’ ahead of European tour

Medium Build, the moniker for singer-songwriter Nick Carpenter, has officially released his much-anticipated album ‘Country’ on slowplay/Island Records UK.

The album delves into Carpenter’s exploration of the concept of home across twelve compelling tracks. Hailing from Georgia with strong ties to his Southern heritage, Carpenter now divides his time between Anchorage, Alaska, and Nashville, Tennessee. “I wanted this album to have my goddamn DNA on it,” Carpenter explains. “I want Country to be something you love with and dance with and cry with and sleep with and lean into.”

Recorded on Nashville’s famed Music Row alongside creative partner Laiko, the album showcases Carpenter’s genre-blending approach, drawing from classic country, ’80s new wave, and ’90s rap and hip-hop influences. Prior to the album release, Medium Build shared several tracks including ‘Knowing U Exist,’ ‘Cutting Thru The Country,’ ‘Crying Over U,’ and ‘In My Room.’

Recently, Medium Build supported Holly Humberstone on her UK & European Headline Tour, followed by a series of free shows as part of the ‘Cutting Thru The Highlands’ Scotland tour. The tour aimed to connect with remote communities, mirroring Carpenter’s desire to reach underserved areas similar to Anchorage. Additionally, he headlined a sold-out show at London’s Hoxton Hall, delivering a mesmerising performance of songs from his new album.

Looking ahead, Medium Build is scheduled to perform at Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza this summer, followed by a headline tour in the UK & Europe in November. The tour includes a performance at London’s Islington Assembly Hall on November 13th.

Since its inception in 2015, Medium Build has released five studio albums, garnering acclaim from industry peers and fans alike. Notable artists such as John Mayer, Zach Bryan, and Elton John count themselves among his admirers. Carpenter has shared the stage with Lewis Capaldi, FINNEAS, and Briston Maroney, and earned a coveted spot on Zane Lowe’s Artists to Watch 2024 list. In 2023, his collaboration with X Ambassadors on “Friend For Life” marked his entry into the Billboard charts.
