“It’s taught me to remember it’s a big world out there, and not everybody is a peanut-farming kid from Georgia. I mean, it’s a big world out there with a lot of different people dealing with a lot of stuff. If I didn’t have Idol, I would be… You can read the headlines about the differences of the world out there, but Idol really puts kids in front of you and you can learn a lot about what’s going on.”

“One of the writers that wrote it has a real, sweet connection with that phrase. Nothing is more fun than when you hear a song title and you’re like, āOh my God, why has that not been written?āā¦ When I got the song sent to me, I was already pretty deep into my recording process. I called the writer and I was like, “I can’t put any singles out on anything until I get in the studioā¦ and get this done.ā”
