5 TV shows perfect to binge watch over Easter

With the Easter break almost upon us, you’ll finally have time to catch-up on some of the fantastic shows that have landed on streaming services recently.

Whether you’re in the mood for a historical drama or you want to lose yourself in something soapy, there’s plenty on offer across the various streaming services. To make life easier for you, we’ve sorted the wheat from the chaff to find 5 shows that we think you’ll love!

Find out which 5 shows we’re recommending for you to watch over the Easter weekend…

1. Mary & George (NOW TV)

There’s been plenty of hype around ‘Mary & George’, starring Julianne Moore and Nicholas Galitzine and the whole series is on NOW TV for you to binge. Telling the story of Mary Villiers (Moore), Countess of Buckingham, who positions her son George (Galitzine) to seduce King James I (Tony Curran) so she can become richer and gain more influence. While the show pays only passing attention to history, it’s a darkly comic addictive watch with stand out performances from its three leads.

2. Palm Royale (Apple TV+)

This star-studded Apple TV+ series may have divided the critics but it’s a fun soapy drama that never takes itself too seriously. With a cast that includes Kristen Wiig, Ricky Martin, Carol Burnett and Laura Dern, ‘Palm Royale‘ tells the story of outsider Max Simmons (Wiig) who tries to gain her place in Palm Beach high society and will stop at nothing to do it. The show looks gorgeous, the cast is excellent and we had a lot fun with it.

3. The Manny (Netflix)

We’ve written about ‘The Manny’ before but if you’ve not seen it yet, Easter is the time to change that. The charming Mexican comedy stars Sandra EcheverrĆa and IvĆ”n Amozurrutia, and tells the story of Jimena (EcheverrĆa) who hires male nanny Gabriel (Amozurrutia) to look after her kids. What she doesn’t know, is that Gabriel has an ulterior motive for placing himself in her house! As Gabriel pursues a personal investigation linked to Jimena’s family business, he starts to fall in love with her. ‘The Manny’ has been renewed for a second season and it’s a beautifully funny series.

4. Shogun (Disney+)

Adapted from James Clavell’s 1975 novel, ‘Shōgun’ tells the story of three different characters – John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis), an English sailor who ends up shipwrecked in Japan, Lord Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada), a powerful daimyo warring with his political rivals, and Lady Mariko (Anna Sawai), a woman trying to prove her value and allegiance. It’s quite different from anything else out there right now so we suggest you give it a go!

5. Triptych (Netflix)

If you liked ‘Orphan Black’, this Mexican thriller will be right up your street. Maite Perroni stars as Rebecca Fuentes, a woman who discovers that she has two identical sisters she knew nothing about. The death of one of them, Aleida Trujano, is the catalyst for Becca being thrown into a mystery as she tries to find out who she really is. There are plenty of twists throughout and you won’t be able to guess what’s coming next!
