Walter Presents will launch new drama series ‘Sweetheart’ on Channel 4 in April.
Created by Simon Boulerice, the 8-part series stars Evelyne Brochu, Lévi Doré, Sophie Cadieux and Steve Laplante.
‘Sweetheart’, (original title ‘Chouchou’) is the story of the love affair of Chanelle Chouinard, a 38-year-old French teacher, who is happily married with two children. Her life unravels after she meets Sandrick, a 17-year-old new student who has just been transferred to her class. Chanelle tries to help Sandrick as he comes from a disadvantaged background and struggles at home with a dysfunctional mother.
However, as she takes him under her wing, she loses her perspective, and their relationship soon turns into an illicit and passionate affair that leaves no one unscathed. The series paints a nuanced portrait of two characters who are heading straight towards the illusion of a great tragic love story.
Walter Presents will launch ‘Sweetheart’ on Channel 4 at midnight on 14th April 2024. The series will be available as a full boxset on C4 Streaming from 12th April 2024.
