C2C festival countdown focus 5: Tipsy Time

It’s the final countdown (so not sorry) to the highlight of the UKs live country music calendar. C2C Festival stages have been dismantled (thanks, Europe!) and set up around London, Glasgow and Belfast to welcome Nashville’s finest, their guitars, their Stetsons and their sass; the UK’s and Australia’s country artists are likely already in the pub. This is the fifth playlist in our series. The other playlists can be found here.

Tipsy Time raises a glass to the tequila, rum, beer and wine drinkers. Drink responsibly, look after your friends and enjoy the final 20 songs to take you to C2C Festival’s artists.

Shoot Tequila – Tigirlily Gold

North Dakota sisters Krista and Kendra bring the rousing chorus of “One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, more; if I had a little sense I’d have stopped at four” on the fantastically energetic ‘Shoot Tequila’.

Rum – Brothers Osborne

Mmm, mmm; ‘Rum’ is a key set list staple for the crowd as well as John and TJ Osborne. We’re dipping our metaphorical toes in the Thames this weekend.

Whiskey Lullaby – Brad Paisley (and Alison Krauss)

Paisley’s heartbreaking ballad ‘Whiskey Lullaby’ is too beautiful, too country and too sad not to include in this playlist.

Tequila Again – Brothers Osborne

TJ and John again; bringing the tempo up, just, with the arms-around-your-bestie waving ‘Tequila Again’.

Hide The Wine – Carly Pearce

Taken from Pearce’s debut album, ‘Hide The Wine’ introduces audiences to Carly’s playful side.

Down To The Honkytonk – Jake Owen

One of the most anticipated artists of C2C, and with more than one song listed on this playlist, Owen invites us all ‘Down To The Honkytonk’; watch out for Sheila.

Whiskey Sour – Kane Brown

Especially for EF’s Laura, and because you know, Kane Brown. ‘Whiskey Sour’ is a beautiful break up ballad, delivered in Brown’s effortless style. We’re going to need to hear this live this weekend, KB.

Bad Day To Be A Beer – Drake Milligan

Taking personification to new heights, Milligan – who sold out his UK tour in record time, mostly in pre-sales – has a ball on the fun, upbeat and uplifting ‘Bad Day To Be A Beer’.  One of the best on this playlist.

‘Apple Pie Moonshine’  and ‘Tipsy’ – Jake Owen

Guess who’s back?  Owen reminisces with the south’s favourite tipple, ‘Apple Pie Moonshine’ and sings the title to this playlist on ‘Tipsy’. Owen could easily headline C2C Festival. Do we need a four- night festival?

‘Wish You Were The Whiskey’ and ‘Hey, Jack’ – Priscilla Block

Priscilla Block is to drinking songs as Jake Owen is and appears as a double on the Tipsy Time playlist with the break-up songs ‘Wish You Were The Whiskey’ and ‘Hey, Jack’.

Take Me Drunk – Charlie Worsham

Worsham, the guitar whisper everyone in Nashville wants on the stage with them, returns to C2C Festival and hopefully plays the belting and lyrically fun, ‘Take Me Drunk’ in between CMA Songwriters and co-hosting duties at the Indigo.

Pop Goes The Whiskey (feat. ERNEST) – Jake Worthington

Heartbreak gets a traditional Texan outpouring in Worthington’s ‘Pop Goes The Whiskey’.  Can’t wait to hear a live performance from Jake.

Drinking Season – Brad Cox

Australian Brad Cox has fun with the catchy ‘Drinking Season’ essentially summing up most of the four days.

Cryin’ All The Way To The Bank – Hannah Dasher

Whilst the lyrics in ‘Cryin’ All The Way To The Bank’ don’t have any drinking references, Hannah Dasher’s title alone sums up Monday for most of us with the arena prices, merch opportunities and needing signed CDs and vinyl of every new favourite artist.

Shirley Temple – Lauren Watkins

I managed to track down a non-alcoholic cocktail in Watkin’s ‘Shirley Temple’ ballad.  Haven’t found one about coffee yet; let me know if you bump into a caffeinated track.

Tequila Made Me Do It – Lucy Blu

The UK’s Lucy Blu shares the Mexican love on ‘Tequila Made Me Do It’ and it’ll be a blast if this upbeat anthem makes the set list.

Boots On – Annie Bosko

Annie Bosko channels everyone’s inner ‘90s Shania with the addictive ‘Boots On’; can already hear the heels in the line dancing.

Dear Tequila – Chapel Hart

The last of these five playlists (over 100 tracks, if you’ve been counting) belongs to country’s favourite trio, and – according to this playlist – favourite drink with their ‘Dear Tequila’. Looking forward to seeing the shenanigans, Chapel Hart!
