Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band BON JOVI marks the 40th anniversary of their self-titled debut album with the digital release of BON JOVI DELUXE EDITION on all streaming platforms today via Island/UMR, accompanied by a special 40th-anniversary trailer. Fans can listen to the Deluxe Edition here and pre-order the exclusive limited-edition ruby color vinyl LP, set for release on March 24, and the limited-edition cassette on April 5 here.
BON JOVI DELUXE EDITION features the remastered original album along with nine bonus tracks, including unreleased studio recordings and four rare live cuts. Co-produced by Jon Bon Jovi and longtime sound engineer Obie O’Brien, who also mixed the bonus material, this expanded version provides an intimate look at the evolution of the band’s iconic tracks.
Highlights from the Deluxe Edition include various versions of ‘Runaway,’ from Jon’s original cassette writing demo to an extended version of the band’s first hit, showcasing its development. Additionally, early renditions of ‘Come Back’ and rare live tracks recorded during the group’s 1985 shows in Tokyo have been newly mixed for this release.
The limited-edition ruby color vinyl LP, remastered from the original tapes, features an alternate cover design, high-end tip-on jacket, and an exclusive lithograph of an early Ross Halfin photo session. The limited-edition cassette includes all original album tracks with an enhanced design featuring lyrics and the original band photo from the LP’s inner sleeve, elements missing from the original U.S. cassette release.
Released exactly forty years ago on January 24, 1984, BON JOVI introduced the band to the masses and kickstarted their storied career. The record went double-platinum and featured classics such as “She Don’t Know Me” and “Runaway,” the latter amassing nearly half-a-billion streams and counting.
