What the Year Ahead Holds: Episode 2 – Morgan Wallen

Welcome to a new year and a new limited series which we are calling ‘What the Year Ahead Holds.’ In this series we’ll be looking at what you can expect from your favourite Country music stars in 2024 in both a personal and professional capacity. In episode 1 we looked at what the year ahead holds for Luke Combs and now it’s Morgan Wallen’s turn!

Morgan Wallen had an amazing 2023. Huge grossing tours and the, as confirmed only yesterday, the biggest selling album in the whole of America! His ‘One Thing at a Time’ phase has been terrifically successful, both professionally and personally, putting to bed any hangovers from the ‘Dangerous’ phase and helping him to cross-over into other markets outside of the Country music genre. He made his UK debut at the O2 in London with a one-night show that that could have probably sold out 2 or 3 times over too so is starting to stretch his ambitions beyond North America.

So what can we expect from this Country superstar in 2024? Well, in the short term he seems to have a duet or collaboration with Post Malone up his sleeve. This is a follow up from his set at the CMA awards with both Malone and HARDY and the subsequent release of the ‘Hixtape: John Deere Green’ song. The track in question appears to be called ‘I had Some Help.’ There are also rumours of a duet with Lainey Wilson in the works too, which is something of a no-brainer to us given both artists’ high profile last year.

Given the wide range of outside writers that Wallen used on his ‘One Thing at a Time’ tour it wouldn’t be a surprise to find out that he is a long way towards completing his next album. There are a lot of Nashville artists and writers trying to pitch to Wallen and Big Loud right now and land a track on Country music’s next ‘golden goose,’ so finding songs for album number four shouldn’t be an issue.

Wallen’s ‘One Night at a Time’ tour kicks off again on April 4th in Indianapolis and runs all the way till August 9th so those 30 dates will be enough to put him in the running for Entertainer of the Year again this year and we wouldn’t be surprised if the CMA voters finally ended their soft embargo on him and garnered him with that accolade.

In the meantime, he has until April 4th to knock up some cracking Pop/Country/HipHop rhythms for his next album augmented by just about every writer in Nashville emailing Big Loud on a daily basis with a pitch for his next album before he goes out on tour again. We wouldn’t rule out more fourth quarter European shows in 2024 and then album number four in early 2025. You heard it here first!
