Elvie Shane unveils raw stories in his sophomore album ‘Damascus’

In a fearless display of unfiltered sincerity and compassionate clarity, Elvie Shane, the talented singer/songwriter signed to BBR Music Group/Wheelhouse Records, is set to release his much-anticipated sophomore album, ‘Damascus’ on April 19th. The album is now available for pre-order, pre-save, and pre-add right here.

Stepping into the shoes of various characters encountered on his journey, Shane weaves together a tapestry of compelling narratives in ‘Damascus.’ The album draws inspiration from the often overlooked stories, providing a platform for untold testimonies to shine through. Co-writing all but one of the songs, Shane collaborates with his frequent partner, Oscar Charles, who also produced the project.

Reflecting on his growth since his previous album, ‘Backslider,’ Shane shares, “I’ve seen the world and made a living with music. I’ve been on top and back down in the mud. In that travel and experience, I’ve paid close attention to people more than anything. Damascus is a record that aims to pick a fight with what holds people down.”

To give listeners a taste of the upcoming album, Shane has already released tracks such as ‘Baptized,’ ‘Jonesin’,’ and ‘Forgotten Man.’ The latter, described as “an ode to blue-collar workers that exposes the heart-aching realities of the working class” by Billboard, showcases Shane’s commitment to portraying authentic stories. The latest release, ‘Pill,’ has been praised by Rolling Stone for its gripping honesty, solidifying Shane as a compelling voice in country music.

Acknowledged by Rolling Stone as an artist “that would do Merle Haggard proud,” Shane reminds us of our shared humanity with the track ‘What Do I Know.’ Co-written by Shane, Oscar Charles, Dan Couch, and Jonathan Sherwood, the song showcases Shane’s gritty vocals against a classic country-rock backdrop. Accompanying the track is a moving video featuring a cameo by John Carter Cash, available to watch below:
