Walter Presents is serving up a French crime series called ‘Bellefond’ as we head into the Christmas season.
The two-part series stars Stéphane Bern, Wendy Nieto and Anne Caillon. It was created by Emilie Barbault, Sarah Barbault, Mathieu Le Picard and Morgan Spillemaecker.
A former criminal lawyer turned professor enlists a handful of his best students to help build a defence case for a relative accused of murder. Nicknamed the “Condamnator”, Antoine Bellefond was a great persecutor who convicted countless criminals without mercy. But everything changed when he wrongly convicted an innocent man, which led that man to tragically commit suicide in court.
Shocked, Bellefond decided to put his career on hold and become a professor instead. Everything changed when his niece, whom he had not seen in years, called him for help. Her father, Antoines brother-in-law, had been arrested for murder and refused to plea innocent even though his daughter is convinced that he did not commit the crime.
Determined to help his family, Bellefond returns to his hometown, accompanied by three of his most talented students, to acquit his brother-in-law, reconnect with his past and reconcile with his family.
Walter Presents: ‘Bellefond’ will launch on C4 Streaming as a full boxset on Friday 15th December 2023.
