5 films to make sure you watch in December

The countdown to Christmas is on but everyone needs a break from the full-on hectic nature of the season don’t they?

When you’re not rushing around buying presents for everyone, visiting family or travelling half way across the country, it’s important to find time to relax and unwind. Thankfully, there are loads of great films coming out in December and we highly recommend that you make time to go see them.

We’ve picked out 5 films released in December that you really have to find time to see. Keep reading to find out more…

1. ‘Renaissance: A Film By BeyoncĆ©’ (1st December)

Concert films are all the rage right now thanks to Taylor Swift dominating cinemas with her ‘Eras Tour’. Next up is Queen B aka BeyoncĆ© with her huge ‘Renaissance’ World Tour. The tour made the headlines for its grand scale, the sheer volume of songs BeyoncĆ© packed in and the incredible spectacle of the whole thing. Now you can see it on the big screen, which sounds like a perfect way to get December rolling.

2. ‘Candy Cane Lane’ (1st December)

Eddie Murphy + Tracee Ellis Ross + Christmas Comedy = Gold. Well at least it does to us. This family-friendly festive comedy is coming to Prime Video and it’s about a man who is determined to win the neighbourhood’s annual Christmas decorating contest. He makes a pact with an elf to help him win – and the elf casts a spell that brings the 12 days of Christmas to life, which brings unexpected chaos to town. It’s on our watchlist.

3. ‘Wonka’ (8th December)

You had us at TimothĆ©e Chalamet. The popular young actor is the star of the origin story of Willy Wonka, the delightfully eccentric character created by the much-loved children’s author Roald Dahl. From the look of the trailer there’s singing, dancing, hi-jinks and Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa. Seems perfect Christmas viewing to us!

4. ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ (21st December)

Sometimes in December you just want to shut your brain off and watch a superhero film. The long-awaited sequel to ‘Aquaman’ – ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ – should be just the ticket. Jason Momoa is back. Nicole Kidman is back. The trailer promises big screen action and honestly, we’re already counting down the days until we can sit in the cinema, gorge ourselves on popcorn and shut out the real world for a couple of hours.

5. ‘Anyone But You’ (26th December)

Once Christmas is done and dusted, get yourself to the cinema to see the charming rom-com ‘Anyone But You’ starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell. Not only are the two actors leading the rising stars of Hollywood right now, they are also very gifted at comedy. In the film they play two people who can’t stand one another but pretend to be a couple. Oh, and Glen Powell gets his backside out. It’s right there in the trailer to enjoy but just imagine it on the big screen. Sold.
