Welsh singer-songwriter Al Lewis is debuting the music video for his new single ‘In My Daughter’s Eyes’ here on Entertainment Focus.
The song, which is out now, is taken from Lewis’ forthcoming album ‘Fifteen Years’ due for release on 12th January 2024. The video, which you can watch at the top of this article, was directed and edited by Sam Rhys James and it features close up shots of Lewis as he performs the song.
Talking about the track he shares: “My youngest daughter has this dimple on her cheek… I looked at some photographs of my dad and saw thatĀ heĀ had dimples, and realised that he will live on, not only through me but through my children.ā
‘Fifteen Years’ was inspired by Lewis’ late father who passed away 15 years ago. The songs came to him as he sorted through his Dad’s old possessions. Among the dusty, discarded boxes he found treasures from his Dadās past; paperwork relating to his parentsā divorce and how his Dad struggled with his illness; relics that sketched out the dreams his Dad pursued in the years after his Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, offering glimpses of an inner life Lewis had never known.
The songs that compose the albumĀ ‘Fifteen Years’Ā speak clearly and from the heart. Lewis draws upon the substance of his loss, the wisdom yielded by the passage of time, and the comfort heās drawn from his own family and from finally grappling with his grief.
